Applications
Transpoxy Masterbond 467 is designed for protective coating applications on properly prepared steel substrates. It can also be used on compatible aged coating systems and approved zinc silicate shop-primers.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from contamination. For blast-cleaned steel, the recommended preparation is minimum Sa 2 and preferably Sa 2½ according to ISO 8501-1:2007, with a surface profile between 40 and 70 µm.
For power-tool cleaning, the surface should be prepared to minimum St 2 and preferably St 3. Water-jetting can be carried out to Wa 2 or better for atmospheric exposure and Wa 2.5 for immersion.
Application Methods
Transpoxy Masterbond 467 can be applied using professional coating methods including airless spray, brush, and roller. Airless spray is the recommended application method.
For airless spray, the guiding nozzle pressure is 180–250 bar with a recommended nozzle size of 0.41–0.58 mm. Thinner volume is typically 0–5%.
Brush and roller application are suitable, although multiple coats may be required to achieve the specified dry film thickness. Thinner volume for brush and roller application is 0–10%.
Mixing and Thinning
Transpoxy Masterbond 467 is supplied in two containers as a complete unit consisting of Base (Part A) and Curing Agent (Part B).
The recommended mixing ratio is Base : Hardener = 7:1 by volume. Always mix a complete unit in the proportions supplied and do not mix more material than can be used within the specified pot life.
The base should first be stirred with a clean mechanical mixer. Then add the complete contents of the curing agent and mix thoroughly. If thinning is required, add the thinner only after the two components have been mixed.
The recommended thinner and cleaner is Transocean Epoxy Thinner 6.03.
